Project Description
The Cuber represents an architectural endeavor aimed at crafting a residential edifice that incorporates a public function on the ground floor, all within the confines of a modest plot.
The project commenced with an initial site visit, revealing the stark reality of the site's limited dimensions. With underground parking, flanked by two main thoroughfares and neighboring structures, the design space was constricted, presenting challenges to conventional configurations.
Employing a programmatic design methodology rooted in oriented grids proved to be the catalyst for a pragmatic solution. This approach facilitated a dynamic rotation of elements, injecting visual intrigue into the building's corner while seamlessly melding with the adjacent public parking. Given the restrictions on excavating a basement level due to existing parking infrastructure, a strategy of vertical stacking was devised, effectively minimizing density without compromising on functionality.
Furthermore, the integration of timber cladding and external pilasters not only imbued the structure with a sense of environmental harmony but also forged a connection with the surrounding context. Meanwhile, the strategic use of reinforced concrete ensured a uniform distribution of forces throughout the building's framework, guaranteeing structural integrity and longevity.
